Parking Problems Around Plaza

Businesses occupying the nearby mill on Ackroyd Place are complaining that parking has become almost impossible outside their premises.

Currently many of the parking spaces are taken up by tradesmen working at the new Plaza. This will presumably worsen when Broad Street Plaza is fully open and people try to avoid paying to park in the multi-storey car park on the Plaza site.

Councillor John Hardy stated a meeting would be arranged to help ease the situation.

Current List of Businesses at the Plaza

As reported by the Halifax Courier, this is the list of businesses and organisations currently lined up for the Broad Street Plaza:

• Pure Gym - Health and fitness
• Vue - multi-screen cinema
• Premier Inn - hotel and restaurant
• Frankie & Benny’s - restaurant
• Pizza Express - fast food
• Nando’s - restaurant
• J. D. Wetherspoon’s - pub
• NHS health centre

There will also be a 400 space multi-storey car park.

Owners of a ten pin bowling alley  withdrew from the project in 2011.

Open in June?

Broad Street Plaza is set to be open in June.

The construction has taken over the skyline in that part of Halifax, to mixed reviews.
